From 2011 she specialized on the topic of whistleblowing and digital dissidents.\r\nIntensive research on a topic are the starting point of the works by Angela Richter. The basis of her projects and performances are experiences and interviews, which she leads during the preparation time, but also until shortly before the premiere during the rehearsals. In the course of dealing with the research material, she creates a textual concentrate on stage, which is characterized by individual modulations, shifts and superimpositions. In terms of the director's approach, the generic term \"gonzo-theater\" is often suggested: in memory of Hunter S. Thompson, who confused fiction and reality, journalism and writing.","description":"Biography\r\n\r\nFrom the 1990ies she was deeply involved with the Hamburg Avantgarde and Music scene, 1996 to 2001 she was a member of the Hamburg based art group Akademie Isootrop along with artists Jonathan Meese, Daniel Richter, Birgit Megerle and Andre Butzer. At the same time Richter went on to study theatre directing with Jürgen Flimm at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg. Since 2001 she works as a director.\r\n\r\nIn 2006 she founded the Fleet Street Theatre in Hamburg, which she ran until 2010. From 2013 to 2016 she was one of the four house directors at the Cologne National Theatre Schauspiel Köln. For her writing and staging of the play Der Fall Esra, which is based on the legal case of banning the novel Esra by the jewish-german author Maxim Biller, she was given the Rolf-Mares Theatre Award for Best Play of the Year in 2009. In recent years, Richter has worked with such digital activists as Edward Snowden and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. In 2012 premiered her piece Assassinate Assange, which was shown in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Vienna. Since then, the director not only visited regularly the WikiLeaks founder in London, but has engaged in panel discussions and in various print media including Der Spiegel, Monopoly, Interview Magazine, Revue Magazine for the Next Society for internet activists and hacktivists. \r\nIn the season 2014/15, Richter wrote and directed the interactive Transmedia Project „Supernerds“ on the topic of digital mass surveillance, whistleblowing and digital dissidents, in collaboration with national television and radio WDR, Schauspiel Köln and the Producers Gebrueder Beetz, including a „Internet Sudden life Game“. The audiences in the theatre, on tv and internet were part of the story, they experienced examples of hacking and surveillance on their smartphones and laptops.\r\nSupernerds is seen as an unique example of Transmedia, because it allowed audiences to explore the story in several media such as internet, sudden life gaming, radio, tv and live on stage.\r\nThe play was based on interviews that Richter conducted in the last three years, with whistleblowers, human rights lawyers, hackers and internet activists among them Julian Assange (Wikileaks), Daniel Ellsberg (Pentagon Papers), the NSA Whistleblowers Bill Binney, Thomas Drake, Jessely Radack. She also visited Edward Snowden in Moscow.\r\nShe published a selection of the interviews in the Book „Supernerds - Conversations with heroes“ with Alexander Verlag Berlin in german and english. In 2018 she co-authored „Women, Whistleblowing, Wikileaks“ along with Sarah Harrison and Renata Avila. Her practice spans live performance, recording, sound installation and custom made browser plug-in. Through sonification, that is the translation of data into sound, she addresses the potential of sound to engage with contemporary political questions. With a focus on sonifying data produced by digital surveillance technologies Jasmine produces sound based artworks that address contemporary surveillance cultures by exposing otherwise intangible monitoring infrastructures. Interested in providing an audible presence for phenomena that lies beyond human perception, via the sonification of facial recognition algorithms, global networks, or internet tracking cookies she engages listening as a mode of investigation into the ways contemporary digital surveillance intersects with our everyday private and public experience. By sonically exposing real-time digital surveillance she examines the ways in which our relationships to being surveilled have become normalised and questions what it means for our personal habits to be traceable. \r\nJasmine has exhibited internationally, released records with the Sonic Pieces (2015, 2017) and Karlrecords (2018) labels, received the ‘Working Grant for New Music and Sound Art’ from the Berlin Senate (2016) and is a current PhD candidate at UNSWAD, conducting research into sound as a method of investigation into contemporary online surveillance cultures.","links":[{"url":"http://jasmineguffond.com/","title":"My Website"}],"events":[{"id":10855,"guid":"7f3817cf-bab4-42f3-b4d8-95cfb1cee28b","title":"Listening Back Browser Add-On Tranlates Cookies Into Sound ","logo":"/system/events/logos/000/010/855/large/LB__01-7_icons-chrome_128px.png?1574197515","type":"lecture"}]},{"id":4927,"image":"/system/people/avatars/000/004/927/original/20181010_111804-square.JPG?1545230233","full_public_name":"jiska","public_name":"jiska","abstract":"Jiska has a M.Sc. in IT-Security. Her practise includes cooking performances fermentation workshops. She is also biohacker being part of the global hackteria.org network, where she currently co-organized the Biohack Retreat Klöntal 2017 in Switzerland. Fermentation repeatedly features as a central aspect of her work, not only literally but also as a metaphor for social ferment, agitation, and incitation to resistance. Minder opposes the structures of food industry by promoting local selforganization, ecological sustainability, and community. She resuscitates traditional food productions methods with a certain relish, saving them from otherwise being forgotten. Her interests span the fields of art, politics, and biohacking, and she often invites other protagonists like diy-scientists, artists, musicians and hackers to participate in the process of communal exchange.
